Caramel Brown Vest Coat and a Touch of Lepard

I love wool staple pieces. Especially in this crazy weather. Sometimes I can just wear a wool sweater and a light jacket on some winter afternoon s and I feel just right. I decided to take a formal item out of the Shika Chica’s closet today and give it a casual day look feel.

I started off layering with this beautiful camel colored long wool vest from Melanie Lyn. I love the color! Like I mentioned before, I am really trying to redo my wardrobe first starting with the basic staples. I then added my classic Brand Melville cropped ribbed sweater. I wear this top all the time as you can dress it up and down easily.,

For the bottoms, I decided to wear my classic cut off Levis jeans that I adore. I love the snug fit at the waist and the slightly flared bottoms. It helps play down the caramel vest. Now for the shoes, I really wanted something simple, classic and ‘warm’, so I decided to add these Zara leather ankle booties. My motto is wear a heel with an outfit, and it can really give the final touch of classiness that you need to bring the outfit together.

Now we have texture, colour and a sheen we are miss a pattern. What better way to add a pattern then this lepard faux fur hat from my mom’s closet. I love how fun and warm it is. Without the hat, the look would not be completed.

Welcome to the first day of chicmas. I wanted to do twelve days with twelve looks for the season. It will allow me to show you guys some great looks for the season that is versatile for your closet. Not only will you be singing to holiday songs and having eggnog next to the fireplace, you will be doing it in style too.

I wanted to team up with Rent Frock and Repeat for most of the outfits as they provide designer dresses for not even a fraction of the price. This allows you to stay in style without the clutter and the excess spending. I also wanted to give a classy, chic feel so I teamed up with Mantavoni 1946, an Italia high-end cafe with lovely in-house baking goods and lovely handcrafted drinks perfect for the holidays.

So let’s start with the first look now that you know all about Chimas and what’s in store. The first look is all about having fun and getting loose. I picked out this lovely feather number from Rent Frock and Repeat. It is a short sleeve satin dress with the feathers on the bottom half of the dress. This look is perfect for a night out. I then added these fun fishnet socks from Garage ( only $2 dollars guys!) to give a pattern to this looks along with these black strap up heels from Call it Spring. You can also add some suede or leather sock booties which is a great yet warmed option. To layer to keep you warm add a trench coat and a festive plaid scarf ( they are great ones at Zara and H&M) if you want. Now you are ready to dance the night away.

Hope you guys liked the look and let me know what you think about this fun number! See you tomorrow for the next fun look!

Festive Skirt and Green Turtleneck OOTD

With the Christmas season coming right around the corner. I am ready for the restive metallic pieces to add to my closet. I decided to start the first week of December with this fun embroidered skirt from Simons. I love the color gold, red and green metallic patterns on it that scream the Christmas season. I then added my green olive turtleneck to this look this time slightly tucking the front of it to give a high low illusion and to essentiate the waist. I love the chunky knit as it gives the look more depth against the satin skirt.

Now as you all know, I love layers and layers is an easy way to make a look seem like you really put more effort. I added this cute brown suede jacket that I love from H&M. Now, because the turtleneck is so thick, you want to layer with a thinner piece such as this jacket.

Then to finish the look I added my Call it Spring brown high knee boots. They match the coat and match the earthy tones that we are going for in this look. As for accessories I added my Medium rose gold watch and my black hat with the silver detailing ( which goes perfectly with the metallic touches on the skirt and the watch).

DIY Off the Shoulder White Shirt

The collarbone is the new cleavage for the season. It’s all about showing the collarbone. It really accentuates the neck and gives this chic sexy touch to a formal or even casual outfit.

I decided to take this regular button down shirt and button only 4 buttons up starting from the bottom of the shift. Then I role the top on the shoulders and voila, you have an off the shoulder top in two seconds. A lot of stores do offer this look already designed for you, but why not get that trend from your closet with a piece that you already have for free. I then added this knitted skirt that I got from my moms closet that she wore ages ago. I love the grey and black pattern. It gives a vintage touch to the whole look while still making it trendy with the basic white off the shoulder top. You can layer a trench coat to keep you warm or if you live in a colder climate add a wool trench coat. I added this suede brown trench coat from H&M which really brings an earthy touch of color to the whole look

For finishing touches, I added my go-to simple black closed toe suede shoes from Call it Spring. Again if it is a little colder where you live, you can add black leather ankle booties with a heel. LAstely, I added this black hat from Forever 21. The silver detailing give a trendy metallic touch to the overall look.

Olive Green Chunky Sweater Casual OOTD

It is getting bone-chilling cold in Canada and depending on what area you live, you are probably just as cold or even colder. Being someone who gets so cold easily especially during the winter months, I make it imperative to have a few chunky sweater in my closet that I can layer and throw on to almost every outfit while looking put together.

This olive sweater is vintage. One of my favorite things about knits is if you get an amazing quality knit sweater you can have it in your closet for life and it stays in an amazing condition such as this one. I added my light blue denim cut off jeans from Levis to brighten the look and my light brown suede jacket from Simons to match the warm earthy tones of the sweater.

For accessories, I added this gorgeous fedora with the silver detailing which really makes this hat stand out. I then added my black simple closed toes shoes from Call it Spring. You can also add black boots and if there have silver detailing even better so they can match the detailing on the hat.

There you have it. A casual warm outfit that looks but together.

OOTD- Twiks a Little, Dance a Little

With Canada’s 150th around the corner, what better way to celebrate than to style these upcoming couple weeks in Canadian fashion. There are so many talented designers and brands in Canada that do not get as much credit as they should.

This Friday I decided to style this amazing floral peach wrap dress from Simons, a Quebec born and raised retail store that holds a lot of great quality brands (majority of them are from Canada). This wrap dress is designed by one of Simons in-house brands, Twik. Twiks has a lot of casual, fun patterns that are great for summer at the moment. I then added these amazing Ferragamo sunglasses from Point of View Opticians. I then gave this look a nice edgy yet sexy spin adding these strappy black chunky heels from Call it Spring which is currently one of my favorite shoes at the moment. As mentioned before, they are so comfortable and simple. You really can never go wrong with some cute strappy heels in your closet.

OOTD- Just A Casual Band T- Shirt

As much as I love looking amazing every day, some days I honestly get lazy to make a whole outfit but I still want to look like I am put together. What better way to do that but to wear a Beatles band t-shirt like this one from Forever 21.

To keep the overall look edgy I added light washed seamed stairs hemmed skinny jeans. This is a huge trend this summer and spring. Adding these jeans is a settled way to still be trendy. Also, these jeans were such a great deal at H&M for $20 (Crazy right?! Can’t go wrong with that). Number one tip with any trend that may not stay long in fashion, buy a cheaper version so you don’t end of spending a ridiculous amount on a trend that will only last one season.

I then layer this band t-shirt with my yellow motor jacket ( do you believe me that it is my favorite item at the moment yet haha). The jacket brings a pop of color to the overall outfit.

Now the final touches I added are these amazing Porch Aviator sunglasses from Point of View which I am so obsessed with. These 80’s cop inspired glasses literally give me life to this whole outfit making me feel like I should be an undercover agent in the 80’s/ 90’s. I then added these amazing laced up black heels from Call it Spring. The heals polish the whole look still giving a bad ass vibe to the ootd. May I also add how they are more comfortable than most considering that they are chunky heels.

There you have it! A casual easy outfit that doesn’t looks casual for Sunday errands, going over to see friends or even in the house. Let fashion be a way to express who you are and sometimes that can be done casually as well.

OOTD- A Match of Chess

Chess is one of my favorite games. It requires such concentration, critical thinking and competitiveness.

While playing chess on a Tuesday afternoon, I decided wouldn’t that be great to make a chess inspired ootd and here it is.

Considering that this pattern is coming back in style at the moment, I wanted to make this chess inspired outfit a garden tea party inspired.

I decided to wear a white layered lace fitted skirt from Dynamite. I love the delicate detailing on this skirt really give a garden feel to the outfit. I then added a white chiffon top from Zara to match the skirt. I wanted to make the whole outfit a canvas and add the plaid scalloped detailed blazer from my mom’s closet ( yes she has style haha) so it was the main focus of the outfit. When you put those three items you can’t go wrong.

I then added black classic closed toe shoes from Call it Spring and Jimmy Choo black sunglasses from Point of View Optical from Ottawa.

This masterpiece is classic and simple yet fashionable. You are now ready to beat your opponent in style.

Back to the Basics- LBD

Sometimes it’s good just to go back to the basics. An LBD never goes wrong for any occasion. You can wear an LBD for work, a wedding, dinner with the family, out with the girls. Really it just comes down to the style of the dress and the accessories you decide to pair it with

I got this slip lace detailed dress from Marshalls. I love how simple the dress is but the lace detailing gives it a classy, delicate and sexy touch to the overall dress. I then decided to add my black closed toe shoes that I bought from Call it Spring. There is something about an all black look that really keeps the look sleek and classic so when you are looking at your photos ten years from now you can still say  “I can wear that dress again”.

Now the accessories are where the dress really comes to life. The dress is like the crust, sauce, and cheese of the pizza and the accessories are the toppings. For this look, I added the Tom Ford cheetah sunglasses from Point of View Boutique. The pop of color and pattern really brings the whole look together. These glasses are definitely crowd stopper. If you really want to go all out or might be going out at night time when it cooler, add a duster jacket or motor jacket to keep the look classy yet add some color to this all black ensemble. I added my yellow suede motor jacket from Mink (why not? I feel so bad ass with this jacket). There’s something about a motor jacket that makes me feel like I should be on a motorcycle in style.

Yellow Motor Jacket Meets Poka-dot Blouse

Can I just say that this book is for the books? I will be officially be adding a few of these photos to my polaroid collage. This superstar jacket is amazing for the spring and summer season for a great statement piece and layering item.

I got this suede Mink jacket from a vendor at one of my local flea markets, 613 Flea, in Ottawa and I will defiantly say this will not be the last that I go vintage hunting for statement pieces. The suede material makes this jacket to Lux and the color brings such a bright fun addition to any outfit.

I then pulled out my polka dot white and navy blue collared top that I bought from Marshalls a couple months ago. The best trick is to add pattern and color to any outfit when in doubt. In this case, I added the vibrant jacket to compliment this classic polka-dot blouse.

Lastly, I added my white denim cut off mini skirt to match the top and keep this look crisp and clean.

For shoes, I got these amazing kitten heel black suede shoes from Call it Spring. You can never go wrong with a simple classic black shoe. They are a staple that never gets out of style in your closet.

To finish this look, I added these amazing Tom Ford aviator glasses from Point of View Opticians. I love the look of the glasses as they are so clean and crisp though they bring a sense of 70’s to the whole look which I absolutely love.
